Trauma, Healing, and the Collective

Trauma.

A word that has haunted me for most of my life. A word I feel is often misunderstood. Yet, it permeates through the entire collective, affecting each of us in ways we may or may not be aware of.

Trauma touches all of us, though we tend to think it has to be something “big” like war, abuse, or violence. But trauma can be anything—any experience that disrupts the natural equilibrium of the body and mind, leading to mental, emotional, or physical distress. It doesn’t have to be a monumental event; it could be something as subtle as a harsh word or a moment of fear. We all go through something like this at least once, though for most of us, it happens many times.

The lingering effects of trauma are hard for most people to grasp. We often view trauma’s aftermath as something negative. But the symptoms we experience—whether they manifest as emotional turmoil or physical illness—are actually normal, healthy responses from the body trying to cope with an overwhelming event.

I believe it’s time we shift our perspective, both individually and as a society, to create space for true healing. We live in a traumatized society, and until we bring our personal traumas into awareness, they will continue to hold us back. We cannot heal as a collective unless each one of us acknowledges the trauma we carry, allowing the light of awareness to transform it.

To heal one, we must heal the whole. And to heal the whole, we must first heal one.

It all starts with ourselves. When we begin to unearth and acknowledge the layers of personal trauma stored in our bodies and subconscious minds, we set off a ripple effect—a frequency that reverberates throughout the collective, inspiring others to do the same. This is how real change happens, one individual at a time.

We cannot heal the external world without first healing our internal world. Because, in the end, they are one and the same.

And through it all, love is the key that ties everything together. 🖤

Thank you for being part of this journey with me. The more we embrace our healing and our true selves, the more we contribute to healing the world around us.

Stay tuned for more from me soon! 🙂

With love,

Nina
