Crystals and Skin Healing: My Thoughts on an Alternative Approach
While not backed by scientific evidence, crystal healing has grown in popularity over the past several years. So what exactly is it?
What is crystal healing?
Crystal healing is considered an alternative—and yes, often labeled pseudoscientific approach to wellness. There aren’t any solid scientific studies confirming its benefits, and many remain skeptical. But for those of us who enjoy exploring different healing paths (or just love beautiful, sparkly things), it’s a topic worth diving into with an open mind.
The basic idea behind crystal healing is that each crystal holds a unique energetic vibration. These vibrations are thought to interact with our own energy field, potentially helping to balance and realign it. This energetic alignment might offer support for mental, emotional, or even physical challenges. As Nikola Tesla famously said, “If you want to find the secrets of the universe, think in terms of energy, frequency, and vibration.”
Energy is everything
I’m not claiming crystals have cured anything in my life—but I do believe that everything is made up of energy. That belief alone makes the concept of crystal healing feel more logical to me. Crystals vibrate at a consistent frequency, and that unchanging vibration may have the potential to influence and raise the energy of the environment—or the people—around them.
I was introduced to crystals years ago. I’ll be honest—I wasn’t completely convinced at first. Still, I found myself picking up a few of the more common stones, just out of curiosity. Fast forward to today, and I’ve got a little collection I absolutely adore. Whether they “work” in the way some people claim or not, I enjoy having them around.
Crystals said to support skin healing
There are thousands of crystals out there, each with their own lore and uses. Below are a few that are often associated with skin-related support—especially eczema.
- Amethyst
Amethyst is one of the most widely used stones in the crystal world (and it happens to be one of my favorites, too). Often called the “master healer,” it’s believed to support everything from mental clarity to immune function. It’s said to help clear bacteria and encourage healthy cellular activity—two things that may be helpful for skin issues. - Bloodstone
Nicknamed the “warrior stone,” bloodstone is thought to help detoxify the blood and improve circulation. Some believe this detox effect can aid in reducing skin rashes and supporting overall organ function. - Aventurine
Often described as an anti-inflammatory stone, aventurine is used by many for skin irritation, flakiness, and even dandruff. It’s also said to assist with calming stress and encouraging tissue regeneration—two things many of us with sensitive skin could benefit from.
A low-risk experiment
Again, I want to be clear: there’s no hard science to back up the healing claims of crystals. That said, many people swear by their effects, and others simply enjoy having them in their living space. Personally, I find them comforting. No, they haven’t magically stopped a flare overnight—but I do feel some benefit from having them nearby. And hey, they’re pretty!
Yes, this topic might feel a little “woo woo” to some, and that’s totally fair. But for those of us who are curious about energy, wellness, and the potential influence of subtle forces—there’s no real harm in exploring. After all, it’s just a beautiful stone… right?
